The Recreation Worker is responsible for consulting and collaborating with local agencies, members, Parent’s Group and Recreation Committee of Wei Wai Kum First Nation to develop a wide range of multi-age programs, activities and services for individuals of all abilities and socio-economic levels consistent with the resources, needs and interests of the community. Under supervision of the Community Services Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the development, coordination and administration of all recreation and youth program activities. The target group for a majority of the programs will be youth 5-18 years of age however, the recreation Worker will be responsible for development of activities and programs for all ages.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Plans, organizes and manages a comprehensive recreational program to ensure that WWK members have access to youth sport, recreation and leisure activities.
- Develops and administers related budgets and ensures programs are delivered within established financial guidelines and budgets.
- Researches sport and recreation programs, funding sources and prepares and negotiates funding proposals.
- Effectively communicates the recreation activities and events to members.
- Manages and oversees the completion of the recreation activities including the coordination of member volunteers and other involved individuals.
- Develops and implements an annual work plan highlighting job goals and objectives.
- Assesses community needs for the development and management of programs and activities ensuring effective use of WWK staff, facilities, equipment and supplies.
- Establishes working relationships with the Elders Worker, Parents Group and WWK Recreation Committee to develop and coordinate recreational programs and events.
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance of WWK policies, standards and procedures.

**Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience**:

- First Aid Level II with CPR Level C
- Coaching Certificate in Several Sport Disciplines
- 3 years of direct experience related to management of recreational programming
- Experience in financial management including but not limited to budget, planning and reporting.
- Experience in team building and development.
- Familiar with First Nation communities and Indigenous Youth.
- Understanding of community interests and recreational needs with the ability to meet expectations by developing innovative programs and services that promote participation in activities and events.
- Leadership skills including communicating, coaching and mentoring and promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Clean criminal record check and vulnerable sector search
- Valid BC Driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract
- Valid Class 4 BC Driver’s License or willing to obtain Class 4 license

**Salary**: $22.58-$30.98 per hour
