**Job Summary**

Responsible for managing, growing and directing financial objectives for a product category or categories. Manage the assortment planning from business performance review to developing suppliers to supplier negotiations. Create operational plans and work with key merchandising and field resources to drive item selection and pricing for a category or categories. Develop supplier relationships and negotiate terms.

**Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities**- Executes merchandising strategy and utilizes the key components of business drivers (e.g. historical performance, industry/competitive landscape, consumer identification, etc.) to support category sales growth.
- Manages financial strategy/targets for a category and influences assortment guidelines and parameters. Decides pricing and executes a pricing strategy.
- Manages supplier strategy (e.g. import vs. domestic, national vs. local, branded vs. proprietary). Reviews existing supplier portfolios to ensure needs are met. Works with key functions to source new suppliers.
- Executes the business review process. Decides which items to send to product line review; when new products should be included in the assortment mix; leverages supplier relationships to optimize assortment; and works with key support functions to ensure completion.
- Influences supplier strategy and executes the supplier portfolio. Makes key decisions on sourcing and developing new suppliers, and negotiating terms.
- Oversees marketing decisions and visual representation of categories in all marketing materials.
- Collaborates with purchasing and operations on forecasting and supply chain set-up for all current and new categories.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations from governing agencies, including Federal and State Import/Export Regulations. Ensures compliance with internal Environmental Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

**Nature and Scope**
- Solutions require analysis and investigation.
- Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.

**Work Environment**
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
- Typically requires overnight travel 5% of the time.

**Education and Experience**
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
- Masters Degree in business or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in merchandising strategy, visual merchandising, new concepts, inventory and supplier management.
- Wholesale distribution experience
- 3+ years of E-Commerce and/or Online Marketplace experience.
