Tower Operator

The Tower Operator is responsible for maintaining a smooth flow of work to each technician and for ensuring that each item on the repair order has been thoroughly completed before returning the vehicle to customer. Scheduling work and shop loading are the main responsibilities of the Dispatcher. The Dispatching position is most important in maintaining shop productivity and efficiency. Much of the control of detail and procedures must be covered by this person.

The Tower Operator will sit the tower office in the performance of computer and paper related work. He/she will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, and exhaust fumes. He/she will experience many interruptions throughout the day in the performance of duties communicating with Technicians, Shop Foreman and Service Consultants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assign daily work to shop technicians, making every effort to be fair and equitable in the distribution of work.
- Check repair orders to approve the time and operations indicated by the technicians.
- Answer inquiries as to disposition of work-in-process.
- Maintain dispatch sheet and post all carryover work daily on the current dispatch sheet.
- Assure the dispatch desk is manned at all times.
Along with various other administrative responsibilities related to work order completion.

Automotive experience as a technician, service advisor, or other shop management related duties will be considered an asset, but are not prerequesites.

This job requires a detail oriented individual with excellent organizational skills and clear communication skills.
