**ISAP Programs Officer**:
Indigenous Student Achievement Pathways (ISAP) welcomes First Nations, Inuit and Métis students to the University of Saskatchewan (USask) with academic and social programming that builds confidence, knowledge and skills.

**Primary Purpose**:The ISAP Programs Officer provides comprehensive support to the ISAP team, College of Arts and Science, with emphasis on ensuring the smooth administration of Indigenous Student Initiatives Pathways (ISAP) first year learning communities and peer mentor activities. The standard for quality of work and timely completion of projects is high. This role requires a proactive and team-based approach in a complex academic environment and the ability to communicate effectively, by a variety of methods, with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community members.

**Nature of Work**: The ISAP Programs Officer reports to and works closely with the ISAP Team Lead, providing high quality, efficient administrative management of ISAP student programming, thus playing a proactive role in developing and delivering strategies, initiatives and courses that support Indigenous student success.

This position works in a team environment to facilitate, coordinate and implement a variety of programs and initiatives; the ISAP Programs Officer must, therefore, establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with students, staff, faculty, administration and external partners so as to provide exceptional collaboration, problem solving, and outreach.

This position requires a high level of integrity and independent judgment. The ISAP Programs Officer must deal with emerging and unpredictable events in a timely and sensitive manner, providing effective follow-up on messages and decisions. This role requires the management of multiple projects and the ability to work under pressure, with mínimal supervision, in a fast-paced environment where there are continuous changes, shifting priorities, and frequent interruptions. Competing deadlines and multi-tasking are the norm, so the ISAP Programs Officer must plan workflow to deal with deadlines, peak periods, and unexpected situations.

This is a high volume position and requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced team environment. Given the complex nature of the institutional processes and academic programs involved, the impact of errors is significant for both the unit and, especially, the students involved.

This position is focused on working with Indigenous students and Indigenous communities; familiarity with and understanding of cultural border crossing, socio-economic realities, Indigenous governance, and Indigenous student funding is a critical asset for the role.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:The ISAP Programs Officer provides high quality administrative management to the ISAP Team, including:

- Assists the ISAP Team Lead with administrative management of ISAP First Year Learning Communities (including creating time tables and building courses in Banner; peer mentor hiring and training; coordination of ISAP LC weekly gatherings with peer mentors; collaborative leadership of ISAP Summer Start; active and timely student communications including early student interventions, student registration and pre-admission inquiries, bursary administration, and event notices and other community notifications).
- Coordinates ISAP events, including meetings, workshops, and student events.
- May support special projects at the College and Campus level.
- Works with members of the Trish Monture Centre for Student Success to ensure that Indigenous students are receiving consistent and seamless messaging and support.
- Works within a proscribed budget to resource ISAP and peer mentor activities and community engagement.
- Assists in the promotion of ISAP in partnership with college, campus and community level initiatives.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with departments, students, and other internal and external stakeholders about ISAP.
- Effectively represents the program’s interests in all contacts.
- Works with the ISAP Team Lead to identify and monitor best practices in Indigenous post-secondary student programming.
- Assists the ISAP Team Lead in planning and implementing new initiatives within ISAP and through campus partnerships.
- Occasional travel and evening or weekend event attendance may be required.

**Education**: A post-secondary degree, advanced administrative certificate, or a graduate degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

**Experience**: A minimum of 2 years working in a position with administrative responsibility. Experience working with data management systems. Experience working with Indigenous people and organizations, and experience studying or working in post-secondary educational contexts.
