**THE OPPORTUNITY**
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Tax, this individual will be primarily responsible for the administration and coordination of the tax compliance requirements for our 10+ corporate entities in 4 countries, from the initial gathering and compiling of relevant information, to the handling/mailing of tax packages/tax payments, etc. up to receipt of final notice of assessment. Included under the tax compliance umbrella are all income tax filings, interim payments, information disclosure filings, sales tax and VAT filings, and completion of all transfer pricing documentation. In addition, this individual will be responsible for executing the life cycle responsibilities tied to the management of our entities (about 500), including annual entity filings and payments, records management, and final dissolution in all states. This newly created position provides an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to advance their practical knowledge and experience in the varied aspects of tax operations.
**KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Tax Administration and Coordination (65%)**
- Administer and coordinate the gathering and compiling of relevant information for our annual corporate tax filings through working in close liaison with our internal teams and our external professional firms
- Manage monthly Canadian HST filings
- Coordinate the handling and filing/mailing of tax packages
- Coordinate the handling and processing of tax notices and tax payments
- Track, document and maintain key supporting information for tax filings, including filing/mailing confirmations, tax payment receipts, statute-barred dates, tax service invoices, etc.
- Provide support for gathering and compiling of information in response to requests from tax authorities
- Provide support for general tax research requirements that arise from corporate tax filings
**Entity Management Administration (25%)**
- Manage life cycle filings of our organization’s legal entities to ensure business compliance requirements are met. This includes annual filings with states/jurisdictions, setting up applicable tax and online payment accounts, entity dissolution filings, etc.
- Track, document and maintain complete and accurate information for all entity related transactions, and consult with relevant internal teams to keep them well informed and on the same page via timely updates
- Collaborate with internal team members and state/jurisdictional departments to resolve entity status and filing issues
- Liaise with external registered agent rep to maintain service updates and invoice reviews
**Projects (10%)**
- Ad hoc projects as required
**CANDIDATE PROFILE**
- Minimum 3 years of practical accounting and/or tax experience
- Practical experience collaborating with professional firms/tax authorities an asset
- Self-starter with a great sense of urgency
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail, and ability to effectively manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel
- Well-developed written and oral communication skills
- Flexible, adaptable, with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Aptitude to leverage technology to gain efficiencies and improve processes
