**Key Responsibilities**:

- Classification of various commodities with verification prior to submission
- Updating / maintaining client profiles by part number - to include vendor description with tariff classification, GST code and tariff treatment
- Customs release by AQ or AQ to follow in a timely manner on all assigned live freight
- Correct and retransmit your CADEX rejected transactions in a timely manner
- Prepare files for amend or refund when necessary
- Independently be responsible for 20 - 24 entries and / or 150 lines of input per day. (To be discussed / reviewed upon employment and level of experience)
- Pre-rating shipments
- Have working knowledge of SIMA, (Special Import Measures Act) the ability to determine when SIMA applies, and the process of completing an entry that is SIMA applicable
- Contacting clients to confirm description of goods in order to arrive at correct classification
- Create specific shipment notes if required
- Enter charges against a shipment if Import Permit or OGD fees apply
- Must follow departmental procedures in place for the handling of various commodities
- Have knowledge of AIRS (Automated Import Reference System) website, and understanding of CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency) requirements for various commodities, basic ability to enter simple CFIA AIRS requirements / information into client profile against specific goods - with training and review
- Have knowledge of NRCan (Natural Resources Canada) and the goods regulated by the program, basic ability to enter simple NRCan requirements / information into client profile against specific goods - with training and review
- Have basic knowledge and understanding of the other government departments and how they are involved in the clearance of various commodities - example: Health Canada, Transport Canada
- Check voice mail and return calls in a timely manner
- Assist clients with requests for information - with guidance and training
- Ability to review and prioritize your work received on a daily basis
- Hand back files to designated CSRs (Customer Service Representatives) after completed
- Make designated CSR aware of any requirements for shipment clearance that are not known
- Work as a member of the team, extending assistance if able, when necessary
- Attend monthly department meetings and make contributions to the functioning of the team

**Education and Experience**:

- Successful completion of Secondary School Grade Twelve or equivalent
- Post-secondary education in a customs related field would be an asset
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Customs industry
- CCS designation would be an asset
- Application to obtain CCS within 3 years and achieved by 4th year of employment is required if not currently designated

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
