**About this Opportunity**

BMG has an exciting opportunity at our Chester, Nova Scotia, Canada location (GN Thermoforming Equipment) for a **Painter/Bodyperson** **who will be responsible for preparation of areas that need to be prepared, filled, primed and coated. Wash parts with soap, thinner, power washer and water. Mask and paint machine parts and completed machines. Mix paint properly to ensure proper bonding and coverage. This position directly impacts the appearance and durability of customer products.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Receive work assignments.
- Organize and prioritize the work assignments in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Operations Support Lead.
- Prepare parts as required and mask if necessary for painting.
- Select appropriate paint or mix paints according to a pre-determined formula.
- Operate hand-held spray guns to spray paint or coat stationary items.
- Using a hand truck, fork truck or hoist, move parts to spray booth, body booth or sandblast booth.
- De-mask, check for quality and put work order with parts to forward to proper department.
- Clean and maintain painting and coating, ventilation, compressed air and PPE.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance function on all Paint Shop equipment.
- Provides flexible team oriented support to other departments as required.

**OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Follow all applicable safety procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.

**EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Six months of related experience preferred.
- Able to operate a lift truck.
- Able to operate overhead crane.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Knowledge of handling and storage of hazardous materials, including bonding & grounding.

**ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Lift, push, and pull up 35 to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Walk for extended periods of time.
- May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
- Must be able to access and navigate within each department at the organization’s facilities (i.e. climb stairs, ladders, etc.)
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection and pass respirator fit testing.
