As the provincial government’s central communications agency, Communications Nova Scotia (CNS) helps ensure Nova Scotians have the information they want and need about government programs and services.

CNS is organized into three main areas of responsibility:

- communications planning - strategic communications planning, content development, crisis and risk communications, stakeholder relations, corporate communications and media relations
- marketing, digital and creative services - digital, graphic design, editorial services, image services (photo/video), marketing, internet strategy and advertising (media planning/buying)
- communication and corporate services - project management and support, planning and policy, translation, research and evaluation, stakeholder relations and budget (recoveries)

As a communications intern with CNS, you will have a well-rounded experience and be exposed to work in all of the areas noted above. You will gain experience using a variety of platforms to engage with Nova Scotians about government priorities and actions.

**What Your Day Will Look Like**:
As a communications intern you will work with other communications professionals to provide communications support services including: writing content for news releases, fact sheets, backgrounders, speeches and social media; support for event planning; and helping to support the sitting of the Legislative Assembly. You may also be required to work directly with department staff experts on projects.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Completion of a post-secondary degree, diploma or graduate certificate in public relations, communications, journalism, or marketing **within the last three years**.
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Experience with social media and other new and emerging communications platforms
- Experience proactively working with, and considering the perspectives of, a diverse range of stakeholders, including a grasp of Nova Scotia’s unique social, historical and demographic make-up.

Previous government experience and French language skills would be considered assets.
