Key Requirements
- Must be able to work rotating shift schedules
- Must be able to commute to Bolton
We are currently offering this role on day shift however, the successful cadidate must be open to rotational shift if required by the business in future. Shift premiums are available.
- As a **Metallurgical Technician/CNC Operator** you will be expected to participate in ultrasonic part washing, furnace load assembly, furnace operation, and metallurgical lab inspection duties.
- You will also need to set up and operate precision milling and turning machines, multi axis machining centers, and precision grinding machines to manufacture precision quality products. In this role, you will be responsible for independent machine setup, first piece validation and exceptional quality
- **Responsibilities**:
- Inventory control
- Preparation for furnace assembly - Separator paint spray and braze foil preparation.
- Part washing in Ultrasonic cleaning station.
- Assist in furnace load assembly.
- Furnace operation and monitoring
- Metallographic inspection (Hardness testing, Fatigue/tensile testing, SEM testing, microscopy analysis
- Reporting inspection data in quality documents
- Communicate and act on process that fall out of specification (NC generation)
- Set up and operate CNC Precision Lathes in accordance with approved, safe work procedures.
- Inspect and record part quality utilizing various precision metrology equipment.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the operations through LEAN principles.
- Determine root cause analysis/troubleshoot and problem solve errors with quality.
- Create and implement new work processes/procedures for existing and new assembly processes to drive productivity improvements.
- Provide instructions and delegate tasks as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s Degree with specialization in Metallurgical Engineering is preferred.
- Completion of certified apprenticeship program an asset.
- CNC Machining experience required.
- Inspection experience; CMM operation an asset.
- Prior experience with materials inspection is required i.e., specimen preparation, microscopy, mechanical testing knowledge and compositional analysis.
- Prior knowledge of assembly and furnace operation is preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of crane operation and motorized pallet truck required.
- Basic knowledge of ultrasonic wash station required i.e., cleaning solution, chemistry knowledge and operation/maintenance of washer.
- Previous work experience using hand tools and measuring tools.
- Prior experience with bonding preparation is an asset.
- Previous work experience with: Turning, Milling, Grinding machining centers.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently maintain high productivity levels.
- Experience with reading and understanding GD&T symbols for parts made, and manufacturing any part designed in manufacturing.
- Capable of solving math and geometry problems presented at machines.
- Strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid understanding of proper Health and Safety workplace practices.
- Ability to lead and provide guidance to other team members.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs independently.
- High attention to detail
