**Location: Virtual through Zoom and Nexus**

**Time: 6:00-9:00 pm**

**Days: Mondays**

**Stipend**:$2,430**

**Position Description**:
This course will provide students with an understanding of the basic structures and functions of English grammar. Students will examine both sentence and discourse grammar in order to assist them in preparing grammar lessons and in answering student questions in regards to English grammar. Traditional and innovative methods for teaching grammar in both communicative and academic contexts will be demonstrated and practiced. Students will practice developing engaging ways to integrate these forms into practical and interesting lessons. Various approaches to vocabulary presentation and practice will also be examined. Students will demonstrate their understanding of elements of the course through the development of both a grammar and vocabulary lesson plan.

**Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree required/master’s degree an asset
- TESL Canada Level 3 required or equivalent
- Minimum of 3000 hours of experience teaching EAL to adults to a variety of students (in terms of level, demographic, and location)
- Experience supporting, training, and mentoring new EAL teachers
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and conflict-resolution skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of situations
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with online tools and resources for teaching
- Able to demonstrate effective teaching practices and how to transfer them to an L2 environment
- Extensive knowledge of past/current EAL/ESL theory
- Extensive knowledge of learning preferences/strategies
- Experience working in classrooms using CLT and task
- and skill-based teaching
- Ability to connect theory to classroom practice
- Knowledge and experience implementing various classroom management techniques
- Ability to engage students whether they are in class or through alternate delivery
- Experience with building a teaching philosophy
- Course preparation and outline in accordance with Program requirements
- Lesson / lecture preparation
- Teaching through Zoom
- Providing assessment and feedback to students on all areas of their development within the program
- Tracking progress of students studying through alternate delivery
- Participation in a staff meeting and orientation
- Preparation and invigilation of examinations
- Marking and grading
- Providing detailed feedback
- Responding to the course related messages in a timely method
- Creating and updating a class Nexus page
- Other duties as assigned

**An equivalent combination of education, experience, skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.**
