Skills learned by an intern in the Advertising Sales department will offer the young graduate experience in preparing for, pitching and closing advertising campaign deals, with the addition of continued follow-up. These skills are critical to a successful newspaper,

Involved in planning, pitching, closing and follow-up are skills such as: organisation, communication, persuasion, making the sale, up-selling and long-term planning for sales, and ensuring high quality follow-up.

Quality control and customer satisfaction are key to ongoing successful advertising sales.

The skills related to repeat customer satisfaction over time are the accumulation of all the planning, communicating and closing the sale.
