Cook - Daycare

**Reporting to**: Manager of Childcare Services

**Summary of Duties**:
Under the direction of the Manager of Childcare Services, the Cook will provide well-balanced nutritional meals adhering to Health Food Guide.

**Key Deliverables and Expectations**:

- Prepare and cook meals and snacks according to Canada’s Food Guide, while also accommodating for food allergies and special medical and dietary requirements of the children
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and organized kitchen; ensure that the cleaning schedules are followed.
- Maintain a working environment that meets or exceeds all requirements from Food Safe
- Order and purchase food and kitchen supplies within the approved budget
- Prepare and post the weekly menu providing menu information for parents and other educators.
- Assist and develop rapport with staff and children.
- Attend workshops, training, conferences, and staff meetings as required.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

**Experience and Attributes**:

- High School Diploma
- Food Safe Level 1 Certification
- 1-2 years of food service experience, preferably cooking for large groups
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Familiar with the Child Care and Early Learning Act, Canada’s Food Guide and the Health and Sanitary regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred
- Motivated self-starter and with strong interpersonal skills
- Highly professional and confidential in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Reference Check, Vulnerable Sector
