To attract Registered Nurses (RNs), Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to work in the hospitals, long-term care (LTC) homes, home and community care (HCC) agencies, Primary Care and Mental Health and Addiction agencies in greatest need across Ontario, the Community Commitment Program for Nurses (CCPN) provides $25,000 in grant funding to eligible nurses in exchange for a two-year commitment to an eligible employer.

To be eligible for the CCPN, a nurse must:

- Not have been employed as a nurse in Ontario in the six months prior to being hired;
- Hold a Certificate of Registration in good standing from the College of Nurses of Ontario;
- Begin employment no later than March 31, 2024;
- Commit to two-years of employment at a full-time work schedule offered by the employer; and
- Not simultaneously receive funds from the Ministry of Health for the Tuition Support Program for Nurses.

The RPN is responsible for providing quality resident care and supervises the care team. The Registered Nurse will oversee shift operation in a safe, efficient manner with attention to all procedures and policies. This position assesses daily resident care needs, develops and distributes resident care assignments appropriately and provides input for written staff evaluations in conjunction with the Director of Nursing designate.

**BACKGROUND/QUALIFICATIONS**:
Licensed Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with CNO required
- Current CPR certification required
- Medication administration certificate required
- A Septic Certificate
- First Aid certificate considered an asset
- Experience in Long Term Care considered an asset
- Maturity and good physical and mental health, show empathy and patience
- Skills and leadership abilities in supervising other nursing personnel is a must
- Must be able to communicate in English, including written documentation
- Computer skills considered an asset

**JOB DUTIES**:

- Assesses the needs of individual residents and organizes the provision of resident care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Participates in the formulation of Resident Care Plan
- Participates in the Multidisciplinary Care Conference
- Supervises the nursing care given by Personal Support Workers under his/her direction with accordance with the resident care plan
- Promotes positive team spirit within the department and home
- Provides direct resident care in accordance with current and approved standards of care, policies and procedures
- Maintains effective communication and good interpersonal relations with medical and allied staff, residents, families and other departments
- maintains accurate records of nursing observations and procedures performed
- Under the supervision of an RN, maintains the safekeeping of all drugs and prescribed treatments on the unit.
- Administers drugs and treatments according to procedure ad within limitations according to standards of nursing practice
- RAI:

- Open and close resident assessments
- Update care plan as required
- Effective communication with pharmacy
- Monitor quarterly and annual assessment schedules
- Monitor residents significant medical changes
- Strong attention to detail

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Lifting alone, maximum 50 lbs as an essential job function
- Lifting with assistance, maximum 160 lbs
- Pushing/Pulling, using wheeled equipment such as cars, trolleys with contents that weigh a maximum of 100 lbs
- Stretching an reaching on a regular frequently throughout work shift
- Standing for lengths of time up to 3 hours
- Bending/stooping on a regular frequently throughout work shift
- Must be able to move and lift equipment and supplis of various sizes and weights
- Follow health and safety guidelines and protocol

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Night shift

Licence/Certification:

- Nursing license (preferred)
- CPR Certification (preferred)
