**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Network Support**:
- Rack, stack, patch, troubleshoot, and decommission network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Provide console access to devices and collaborate with remote engineers via screen sharing and telephonic bridges.
- Install and refresh network devices such as routers, switches, and access points (APs).
- Identify network devices and understand their roles and functions.
- Knowledge of rack elevations, MDF/IDF closets, and data center environments.
- **Cabling and Infrastructure**:
- Handle patch cabling, power cord connections, and closet cable dressing.
- Familiarity with copper and fiber cabling systems and network monitoring systems.
- **Hardware Installation and Support**:
- Install and remove field replaceable units (FRUs) such as hard drives, memory, line cards, and transceivers.
- Provide hardware support for network and server components.
- Work with out-of-band management tools such as iLO and DRAC systems.
- **End User Computing & Device Support**:
- Provide support for end-user computing devices, peripherals, and accessories.
- Perform device imaging and hardware break-fix.
- Support the onboarding and off-boarding of users.
- Provide first-line support for conference rooms and escalate issues to third-party vendors as necessary.
- Offer VIP support to high-profile clients when required.
- **General IT Services**:
- Perform Installs, Moves, Adds, and Changes (IMAC) for IT equipment.
- Provide Smart Hands support for local server, storage, and network environments.
- Maintain hardware asset management in the storeroom.
- Act as the site point of contact for visiting IT vendors.
- Provide manufacturing support on shop floors with knowledge of the manufacturing process.
**Required Skills & Qualifications**:
- Strong understanding of network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
- Proficient in network troubleshooting and decommissioning tasks.
- Experience in rack elevations, enterprise campus MDF/IDF closets, and data centers.
- Knowledge of console access procedures and working on telephonic bridges with remote engineers.
- Ability to work autonomously and follow verbal and written instructions from senior engineers.
- Certifications: CompTIA Network+ and/or CCNA preferred.
**Knowledge of**:
- Network and server hardware
- Copper and fiber cabling systems
- Network monitoring tools and device/database backup & restore processes
- Equipment racking and stacking
- Familiarity with network equipment and software, including Cisco, HP/Dell/IBM, Juniper, Bluecoat, and Checkpoint.
- Experience with VIP support, device imaging, hardware break-fix, and printer support.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage unexpected issues efficiently.
- Reliable and punctual with the ability to meet SLA-driven schedules.
- Professional demeanor with excellent communication and client-facing skills.
**Additional Considerations**:
- The position requires flexibility in work hours and the ability to respond to calls on short notice.
- Must be able to travel to client sites when needed.
- A solid understanding of residential IT resources and Genius Hub Walk-up Centre Support is a plus.
**Job Type**: Contract
Pay: $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 8 per week
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
- On call
**Education**:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
**Experience**:
- IT support: 2 years (required)
**Location**:
- Brantford, ON (preferred)
