**Your Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering, the Plumber / Steamfitter performs a full range of journeyperson level plumber and steamfitter-pipefitter duties utilizing considerable initiative and judgement in accordance with blueprints, diagrams, building codes (for plumbing steam fitting and gas / medical gas), provincial trade regulations and department policy. This position monitors, tests, troubleshoots and documents performance of high
- and low-pressure steam, hot water heating, associated distribution and control systems and equipment, plumbing, medical gas, domestic hot and cold water, tempered water, glycol, chilled water, natural gas, storm and sanitary sewer. In addition, the incumbent will complete preventative maintenance which includes checking and recording new equipment and testing and servicing existing equipment. Assists in keeping mechanical and shop areas clean. Assists trades and other maintenance staff as required and performs other duties as required. Typical Duties: Plans, assembles and installs, inspects, repairs and services metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, tubing, fittings, valves, controls, fixtures and related components. Completes preventative maintenance which includes checking and recording new equipment and testing and servicing existing equipment to ensure safety codes are met. Provides recommendations on the design of piping and plumbing systems and replaces, modifies, and performs major repairs on existing piping and plumbing systems. Creates pricing / estimates of materials. Inspects new construction and renovation projects. Performs and coordinates work with consultants and engineers. Please Note: This position is a roaming position and will be required to work at other hospital sites for longer duration within the Edmonton Zone within the Edmonton Zone (including rural).

**Description**:
As a Plumber/Steamfitter plans, installs and services plumbing and piping systems, fixtures, equipment and controls used to transport water, waste, gas, air, and steam. You will be responsible for monitoring, testing, trouble shooting, documenting and analyzing performance of high and low pressure steam, hot water heating, associated distribution and control systems and equipment, plumbing, medical gas, domestic hot & cold water, tempered water, glycol, chilled water, natural gas, storm and sanitary sewer. In addition, you will prepare feasibility and cost estimates and reports and request or order supplies.

**Required Qualifications**:
Journeyperson Plumber and Journeyperson Steamfitter-Pipefitter certificates from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Grade 12 or equivalent, supplemented by related technical courses. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair as necessary. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to comprehend and utilize a computerized maintenance system. Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Five years’ previous related Plumbing and Steamfitter experience in an industrial or institutional setting with a maintenance background is preferred. Preference given to those that possess a Gasfitter Ticket.
