We are looking for a Technical Expert in Tailings Engineering to join our team as a Global Tailings Practice Lead. You will work on a variety of interesting and challenging projects across North and South America. With experience in the mining sector, you bring scientific/technical mastery, sophisticated regulatory understanding, leadership skills, business acumen, and an entrepreneurial spirit along with a keen interest in growing and evolving the business, leading teams, and mentoring staff.

You can be based on any of our Canadian office locations. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing possible remote working arrangements or working from one of our satellite offices.

**About the role**:

- Provide leadership to our strategic initiative to grow of tailings engineering capabilities globally, mainly in the mining industry.
- Provide a link between the tailings group with the process teams and clients for integrated tailings solutions in the North America and South America market.
- Develop and maintain key client relationships and support growth of the team and business across North and South America.
- Direct and perform highly complex or specialized aspects of the work while supporting project managers and overseeing projects involving multiple service areas and subcontracts as well as stakeholder, client and / or schedule challenges.
- Supporting hiring, integration, development, and mentoring of multidisciplinary mine waste staff.
- Provide expert support and advice within and outside of the organization.
- Mentor and develop staff, specially on the selection of tailings dewatering technology development related to tailings management projects with the preparation of trade-off studies and cost-effective solutions assessing available dewatering technologies.

**About you**:

- Recognized as an expert in tailings engineering with a dedication to and passion for your discipline.
- Minimum of 20 years of relevant experience working in a consulting engineering or mining industry environment.
- Proven experience in tailings filters type selection and sizing, thickeners type selection and sizing, pipe sizing, specifications and cost estimations for surface and underground pipelines, agitation processes (agitator selection for complex tailings) and hydrocycloning, selection, adjusting and simulations.
- Demonstrated experience working on domestic and global projects related to tailings management in the mining industry.
- Registered engineer in Canada and USA, being able to sign off as QP.
- Professional designation (P.Eng. P.Geo) is a requirement.
- Consulting acumen, including an entrepreneurial spirit, strong self-direction, and overarching belief in client satisfaction.
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to think critically and problem solve.
- Experience in leading, mentoring, and training staff.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in a second language including French or Spanish an advantage.
