Educational Assistant

Choice School for Gifted Children in Richmond, B.C. is a ministry-designated Special Education School that specializes in providing an emotionally nurturing and intellectually challenging learning environment for gifted students in grades K through 8. Choice provides an educational context in which gifted children can thrive in small classes with innovative programming, skilled teachers and extensive specialist support.
- Has experience and training implementing Individual Educational Plans
- Has experience working with children with Special Education exceptionalities such as ASD, ADHD, Sensory Processing or Mental Health diagnoses. Behavioural Interventionists are welcome to apply.
- Has experience, aptitude, and understanding of the Social Emotional and Academic needs of gifted children
- Has training and experience managing challenging behaviors
- Possesses strong teamwork skills
- Understands children’s developmental levels
- Is able to support and manage small groups of students
- Is able to build healthy and trusting relationships with students and colleagues
- Completed a recognized Special Education Assistant program, a Degree/Diploma in a related field, and/or has had successful experience in an equivalent field
- Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written

The following are considered to be an asset:

- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training (e.g., CPI or MANDT)
- Experience using techniques of Applied Behaviour Analysis
- Completion of POPARD coursework

**Salary**: $29.00-$33.00 per hour
