Job Summary:
We are a local and cross border trucking company, and our cross dock is seeking a hardworking, dependable Dock Worker. In this position, you will use a forklift, pallet jack, dolly, or hand bomb to move items to the staging area and make sure they are packaged correctly before loading them onto delivery trucks. You must also accurately receive and ship goods according to details on Bills of Lading or other documentation provided by dispatch. Although there are no educational requirements for this role, you must have basic math and reading skills. Our ideal applicant has warehouse experience and forklift certification. A valued asset is the ability to move trailers in and out of dock doors.

**Responsibilities**:

- knowledgeable in combining LTL into Full Loads, and Loading and unloading freight of all kinds using forklifts, walkie machinery, pallet jack, 2 wheel dollies
- Verify and note the count and condition of the cargo received
- Accurately label freight to destination
- Assist in segregating cargo received by account or intended location
- Perform various manual labour functions such as hand-loading trailers
- Responsible for the correct staging of freight, i.e., /pre-appointment/ appointment/Overage Shortage & Damage section etc.
- Counting accurately all freight and reporting any exceptions noted between the B/L and actual piece count Isolate and protect high value, heated, and time-sensitive freight.
- Keeping warehouse environment clean and organized i.e., floors/trailers/yard
- Responsible for proper use and regular inspection of dock equipment
- Ensure dock equipment is safe and in working order.
- Assist OS&D clerk in disposing salvage & waste product
- Support inventory control with accurate documentation
- Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations
- Shunting trailers into position at docks
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Forklift Certification
- Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution center preferred
- Shunting ability / AZ Licence an asset
- Forklift certification, ability to operate, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment
- Basic mechanical knowledge for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 50 per week
