Job Description:
The Caretaker performs general caretaking duties including light and heavy duty caretaking including basic safety and security:
- Heavy cleaning duties such as washing and waxing floors, washing walls, vacuuming carpets, damp mopping floors, re-lamping light fixtures, collection of large recycle containers for cardboard, papers, cans and glass;- Light cleaning duties such as dusting, emptying and cleaning paper baskets, cleaning of chalkboards, polishing of glass and furniture, cleaning windows and maintaining necessary supplies;- Exterior duties including disposal of refuse, sweeping, shoveling snow, sanding, salting and removing ice from entrances;- Changing light bulbs, moving furniture, reporting building damage or repairs needing attention.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent;- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in custodial work or caretaking in an institutional or commercial environment;- Occupational Health and Safety training, and WHMIS certification are an asset;- Ability to perform all physical duties as outlined in position description;- Ability to multi-task;- Good communication skills;- Satisfactory criminal background check- Valid Driver’s License
