**JOB INFORMATION**:

- We are currently seeking temporary Landscapers (Grounds Maintainers) for our 2024 seasonal maintenance program.**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- Perform routine landscaping and grounds maintenance activities to ensure the basic maintenance of various subway and surface properties including open cut track areas throughout the TTC
- Use a variety of handheld and gas powered landscaping equipment and tools such as lawn mowers; saws; roto-tillers, power trimmers, stone cutters, blowers, power washers, snow blowers, etc.
- Maintain and make minor repairs to related equipment to maintain a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly operation
- Plant and maintain trees, floral and shrub beds which involves lawn care, raking and cutting grass, pruning and preparing seasonal displays, etc.
- Conduct grounds maintenance duties which includes cleaning, stocking and servicing washrooms; replacing burnt out light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, etc., inspecting roadways, walkways, etc. and reporting deficiencies or safety problems
- Prepare surfaces for the laying of landscape rockery, pavers, etc.
- Operate a non-revenue service truck and trailer, as required and fueling, conduct daily vehicle inspection for cleanliness, safety and service check as per Ministry and Department policies and maintain a vehicle log book, etc.
- Assisting work crews during inclement weather to ensure hazard free areas for employees, TTC customers, etc.
- Assist with the set-up of work zones, barricades, etc.
- Treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers and/or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within your area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service-provider and an employer.
- Demonstrates behaviors that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment. Helps to remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with TTC’s commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s policies.

**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Practical work experience and knowledge in the planting, pruning, and cutting of grass, trees, shrubs, flowers, using mechanical equipment (lawn mowers, whippers, chainsaws, etc.), normally acquired through 12-months experience in the landscaping field
- Must have a valid, non-probationary, class “G” Province of Ontario driver’s licence or better
- Ability to read and interpret property drawings and blue prints
- Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions as demonstrated by an ability to understand and follow published operating/safety rules and regulations
- Attend and successfully complete TTC training programs for WHMIS; Subway/Streetcar/SRT Rule Book certification; defensive driving, trailer
