**NOTE: This position is limited to NAIT internal staff only.**

This position requires leadership skills and the ability to coordinate and supervise the work of others. Including establishing quality standards and safety in the Biomedical Services team, while performing Electronics Technologist duties such as that repair, calibration, installation, and troubleshooting of medical equipment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Coordinates and supervises the daily operations of the biomedical team and electronics tech staff to ensure consistent, safe and effective operations.
- Facilitates effective communication and collaboration between staff.
- Ensures operational coverage.
- Maintain all medical equipment including preventative maintenance, warranty management, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, testing, and inspecting a wide variety of biomedical and electronic equipment.
- Act as a just-in-time support for educational technologists and program faculty in labs, clinics and equipment repairs.
- Participate and advise staff in a very interdependent manner, thus fostering a productive and healthy work environment to include the proper use of equipment.
- Work independently on medical equipment, collaborate in a team environment, and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain databases for equipment and information systems, and perform relevant networking (ITS).
- As a preceptor, supervise a biomedical technician student
- Ensure the biomedical shop is kept in working order with accurate recording keeping and stock items managed in a fiscally responsible manner.
- Assist Department staff by performing other duties, as assigned.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and support a group of technologists to ensure the delivery of educational programs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills within a diverse teams and departments.
- Ability to work in a team and independently.
- Knowledge of diverse medical equipment maintenance, repair and troubleshooting ranging from training in diagnostic imaging systems (e.g. ultrasound, CT, radiography, MRI), medical laboratory instrumentation, dental equipment, respiratory ventilators, animal health equipment, and manikin-based simulation systems.

**Qualifications**:

- Biomedical Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology, or equivalent in education and experience.
- 5 years of experience (minimum) in medical equipment repair and service.
- Previous leadership experience is considered an asset.

**Remuneration**: Compensation is currently under review.
- This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement._
