**Purpose of the Position**
This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining our machines alongside a production team on the designated shift to produce products on-time, efficiently, with good quality and with the highest level of safety. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the position exists to maintain, monitor, & continuously improve the manufacturing plant's Automation and Controls Systems effectiveness. The incumbent selected will be responsible to complete breakdown repairs, scheduled maintenance tasks, and upkeep the facility as needed. Incumbents will perform breakdown and planned Electrical/PLC maintenance duties as required for plant operation with the highest level of safety in a manufacturing setting. They will also be required to participate in plant improvement projects. This position works afternoon/evening shifts to provide automation support.
**Who You Are**
**Main Duties / Accountability**
- Assisting in the development of Automation Systems suitable for Manufacturing/Industrial settings that communicate Product acceptability, machine status, process parameters, alarm, and fault codes,
- Writes, Debugs, PLC code that is organized, structured, documented, shareable and re-usable,
- Tracking breakdowns of Automation components and their root cause to develop preventative maintenance plans, and critical spare part inventories for Sensors, Actuators, Controllers, PLCs, Drives and other automation equipment,
- Training and Developing maintenance personnel on the use, repair and troubleshooting of Sensors, Actuators, Controllers, and other automation equipment,
- Generating ideas for Automation improvement projects, and leading feasibility studies for new projects,
- Actively working in conjunction with Process Engineering in the commissioning activities of new automated equipment,
- Generating functional, and aesthetically simple HMI screens that provide sufficient feedback for Troubleshooting key processes,
- Designs compliant (ANSI/OSHA) and reliable safety systems for automation equipment, conveying systems, and other manufacturing equipment,
- Develops schematics for automated systems, including wiring, pneumatic and fluid systems,
- Select and size electrical, and electromechanical components such as Drives, PLCs, Servos, etc.,
- Identifies Training and Skill development opportunities for technicians,
- Identifies cost reduction opportunities in the supply of contracted services, or spare part KanBan,
**Requirements**:
- **Education**:Professional Degree or relevant certification
- **Experience**: 3-5 years in a similar manufacturing environment
