**Opportunity**:
We are currently recruiting a **2SLGBTQI+ Case Specialist **to join the Refugee & Immigrant Specialized Experience (RISE) team. The 2SLGBTQI+ Case Specialist will provide individualized support to 2SLGBTQI+ newcomers with the goal of supporting their successful integration into the community through eventual participation or referral to the appropriate Settlement and Integration Program. The RISE program works with eligible clients using an integrated, holistic and client-centred model, providing clients with specific One-on-One case management or Family Services, as well as Group Services, through a wrap-around case management system. These services include life-skills, literacy and essential skills workshops and courses, field trips, and support groups to enhance social and emotional well-being.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Conducts outreach to solicit client referrals to the program;
- Responds to client referrals by outlining the program eligibility and services;
- Conducts client intake of eligible clients, including Service Consent or provides information on and referrals to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required;
- Plans, prepares and conducts life skills training, encouragement and support (individual service);
- Plans, prepares and conducts life skills training, encouragement and support (individual service);
- Participates in the development, and implementation of group services, including the workshops, courses, workshop series and support groups;
- Provides in-home and community support and guidance to clients and families; facilitates positive family communication, assists clients in making positive changes and solving problems related to integration and self-sufficiency;
- Provides emotional support, cultural brokerage and feedback to clients including crisis response and intervention;
- Develops service/action plans that are integrated and holistic;
- In more complex cases, participates in integrated case management meetings or meets with professionals and social workers to report clients’ activities and progress, discusses case planning, issues and concerns;
- Maintains related records and statistics. Produces reports, including intake, progress, and discharge in accordance with established policies and guidelines;
- Liaises with other community service providers, professionals to coordinate services and to ensure that interests of clients are considered in decisions affecting them;
- Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments as needed;
- Connects clients to 2SLGBTQI+ services and the larger community;
- Informs clients on their rights as an 2SLGBTQI+ person in Canada;
- Adheres to agency policies and procedures and standards of practice;
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related human/social service field;
- One (1) year recent experience in case managing vulnerable refugee populations, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
- Experience working with 2SLGBTQI+ newcomers
- Ability to speak/read/write English at a professional level;
- Demonstrated recent experience in conducting client needs assessments with multi
- barrier vulnerable immigrant and refugee populations and implementing a holistic service or action plan;
- Demonstrated ability to implement professional boundaries with clients;
- Knowledge of the refugee experience and refugee settlement issues and knowledge of community agencies, services and resources, especially in the communities of Surrey, North Delta and/or Langley;
- Knowledge of the 2SLGBTQI+ newcomer experience and barriers and knowledge of community agencies, services and resources;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, problem solve with confidence to ensure effective case management;
- A valid class 5 Drivers’ license and access to a vehicle is an asset
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Fluency in Arabic or Swahili is considered an asset
- Lived experience as someone from the 2SLGBTQI+ community is preferred
