Halifax Independent School is a child-centred space emphasizing strong relationships and active, experiential learning. We are located in Halifax’s west end, and have over 190 students from pre-primary to grade 9.

We are seeking an energetic leader to plan and execute our Extracurricular Childcare Programmes. Reporting to the Headteacher, you will be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the children in Halifax Independent School during lunch, after school, in-service and day camp programs.

**Core Responsibilities**:
**Program Planning and Delivery. **Under the direction of the Headteacher you will:

- Plan and implement an Afterschool programme that includes engaging multi-age activities (age 5-12).
- Execute engaging multi-age programming of day camps including stand-alone single day events and week-long theme-based camps.

**Staff and Child Supervision. **In addition to direct supervision of children (age 5-15), you will provide supervision to Extracurricular childcare staff.

**Experience and Qualifications**:

- Experience working with youth - as a Camp Leader, in Child Care, After School or Youth programs.

**Attributes**:

- Ability to create and deliver innovative programming and engaging activities, plan field trips, book guest speakers/workshops.
- Leadership and teamwork skills; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve in a positive and professional manner.
- Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills.
- Must be available until the contract ends on July 28th, upon completion of summer camps.

**Background Screening and Qualifications**:
All staff are required to have/acquire the background checks below. Existing search results are acceptable if issued within the last 12 months.
- Child Abuse Registry check
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- First Aid Certification.
