As a Safety Officer at MARCON, you will play a pivotal role in our commitment to safety and compliance. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety policies and programs that promote a culture of safety awareness. This position requires an individual who can lead and support efforts to minimize workplace injuries and ensure that our employees adhere to established safety procedures.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct routine safety audits and inspections.
- Collaborate with the HR department to identify safety needs, promoting awareness.
- Manage WorkSafeBC injury claims and related documentations.
- Perform periodic job site visits, analyze safety programs, deliver reports and metrics to management group, and offer recommendations for performance improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal safety regulations.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, providing recommendations for enhancements for parties involved.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
- Maintain records of safety-related incidents and actions taken.
- Lead emergency response planning and drills.
- Assess and procure safety equipment and supplies.
- Develop and adjust training, awareness, and communication materials for OH&S within the company.
- Actively engage in emergency response efforts, offering specialist guidance to operations.

**Qualifications**:

- A minimum of 5 years relevant and progressive experience in the manufacturing industries where you’ve gained broad knowledge of the industry’s processes, equipment, terminology, risks, and hazards.
- OHS Diploma, CRSP/CSP, technical/professional designation or diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent combinations of education/experience related to OH&S in your specific industry will be considered
- General knowledge of occupational health and safety as evidenced by education and/or experience in OH&S is a requirement
- Knowledge of safety legislation and regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Construction Safety Officer/CSO) are a plus.
