Topsoil Yard Foreman

Rice Aggregates is looking for a Topsoil Yard Foreman with experience processing soils, operating screening plants, fluffers and other heavy equipment in a safe and productive manner, out of our Mount Albert Yard.

The Topsoil Yard Foreman’s primary objective is to ensure that all operational activities relating to soil production work is performed in a safe, cost effective, well maintained, and productive manner. The Foreman while leading a crew of 2 to 4 heavy equipment operators, is a “working” foreman that can perform various tasks in equipment operations, maintenance, and administration. Based on scheduling and availability of work, this Foreman may be assigned to other Rice Group development/construction work.

Responsible for supervision, motivation, and scheduling of Mount Albert Yard team. Maintain operational efficiencies to minimize downtime and maximize soil processing productivity.

Ensures that checklists are performed by personnel, logged, and reported daily.

Ensures all personnel time sheets are correctly filled in with proper cost codes and handed in to payroll on time.

Demonstrates leadership and behaviours consistent with health & safety policies through front-line engagement, training, and enforcement of policies. Ensures that all job hazard assessments, risk analysis and daily safety checklists items are performed. Conducts daily tailgate talks with Mount Albert Yard team to ensure a high level of hazard awareness and that controls are in place to keep operations safe.

Prepared to work in all variation of weather. Able to work long and flexible hours. Work on weekends required during high production season.

SKILLS REQUIRED
- Require a good safety record and the highest degree of dependability.
- 2 years’ experience in soil processing
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with operating heavy equipment (Screening Plants, Excavators, Large Dozers)
- Able to work long days, flexible work hours & weekends
- Valid “G” driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract
- Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role (heavy lifting, bending, climbing, working at heights)
- Strong managerial skills in positive engagement, change management and situational leadership
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Exhibits strong teamwork, verbal, and written skills
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Demonstrates superior time management skills
- Must speak fluent English
