**Brief Overview**:
The Métis Nation - Saskatchewan (MN-S) is the government that represents Métis citizens in Saskatchewan, and MN-S Ministry of Health is responsible for improving the health and well-being of Métis citizens in Saskatchewan. The Ministry of Health does this through program development and operation, research and data partnerships, and the development of a Métis Health and Well-being Strategy. MN-S Ministry of Health has acquired funds to conduct research and develop a provincial plan to eliminate the need to evacuate for birthing in Saskatchewan through innovative community-driven trauma-informed and evidence-based solutions including midwifery, prenatal, birthing, and postnatal intensive supports, housing/poverty/food insecurity and other social determinants of health, mental health/wellbeing and substance use supports.

Under the supervision of the Midwifery & Birthing Center Project Managers, Research Assistant(s) will be responsible for supporting the research deliverables associated with the funding proposal including, but not limited to:

- Literature Review and Environmental Scan
- Inclusion of people with Lived and Living Experience
- Community engagement strategy
- Advisory Circle meetings and business
- Legislative Review and Recommendations
- Business modeling and planning for next steps
- Evaluation framework and reporting models
- Education and curriculum framework(s)
- Qualitative and quantitative data required to meet project deliverables.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support research initiatives of the project and report on findings.
- Evaluate frameworks and analyze data specific to Midwifery and Doula supports in Saskatchewan.
- Organize, maintain and manage research findings and report data back to Midwifery Project Managers
- Support the planning to business modeling and assist the Project Managers where necessary.
- Support project reporting and evaluation of the project.
- Review literature reviews, legislation and provide recommendations on findings.
- Support the facilitation of advisory circle and attend meetings to gather data.
- Effectively represent MN-S Health Department by ensuring the appropriate tone and interest is represented in communication with citizens, partners, representatives, and organizations
- Collaborate and work together as a team with the MN-S Health department to accomplish other duties and tasks when assigned

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with a background in Indigenous/ Aboriginal studies, community health, public health, social sciences and/or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2-4 years experience conducting research and community engagement.

**Knowledge and skills**:

- Knowledge of Métis culture
- An Understanding of research components and knowledge to data analysis
- Strong communication skills including speaking, writing, and active listening skills
- Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, database software, electronic communication tools such as Microsoft Outlook)
- Willingness to work within a team environment
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills
- Sound problem solving and decision-making skills as well as attention to detail
- Data management skills and capacity to manage confidential health related data.
- Understanding of the current health care needs of Métis women accessing the healthcare system for prenatal care.
- An understanding of the current health landscape in rural, remote and northern Saskatchewan.

**Additional requirements**:

- Must undergo a Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector
- Work remotely with mínimal supervision.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $40,000.00-$47,804.00 per year
