**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
**Major Responsibilities**:

- Provides effective support in the delivery of routine and minor reviews made under environmental assessment legislation, Planning Act, and Conservation Authorities Act and regulations that includes providing policy direction and review of files.
- Provides professional planning advice, legislative and regulatory guidance, and recommends appropriate action to TRCA staff, Conservation Ontario, clients, including municipal, provincial, and federal partners, and/or private industry representatives and permit applicants; referring to the Senior Planner and Manager as required.
- Coordinates internal technical reviews; produces detailed correspondence.
- Participates in some internal and external committees to represent TRCA planning and regulatory perspective.
- Provides technical knowledge and advisory services in the development of workshops geared specifically toward external stakeholders and consultants focused on education and compliance with TRCA’s business objectives.

**What will you need to succeed**:
Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)
- University degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, Urban Studies, Geography or a related field
- Valid Ontario Class G driver's license

Experience
- 3+ years of municipal, environmental, or related planning experience

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies
- General Understanding of the role of TRCA in the broader municipal and provincial planning context, including the TRCA Policies, Provincial Planning Policy Statement (PPS), and Conservation Authorities Act and regulations and environmental assessment legislation
- General Understanding of various technical disciplines (e.g., ecology, water resource engineering, hydrogeology, geotechnical engineering, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify problems in a timely manner, seeking the appropriate level of support to solve issues
- Influential communicator able to facilitate discussions between parties with different perspectives of competing interests and resolve conflicts, excellent written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office suite including online software such as MS teams, WebEx, and SharePoint, including experience working with Adobe Acrobat, ArcGIS; knowledge of Enterprise Permitting & Licensing Systems, Laserfiche, and digital plan review software
