Tunnelling Supervisor

**The Position**: As we are expanding our field of operations, we are in need of more motivated and hardworking Supervisors to join our team. The Tunneling Supervisor position is responsible for the safe, technical and economical adequate execution of the company's project in the field. Together with the Project Manager, and Equipment Manager, they will be part of the site management. In the field, they will be responsible for the organisation of the crew's daily tasks and ensure the timelines and project goals will be achieved.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Ensure shaft/tunnel work is carried out in a safe manner and to the specified quality requirements.
- Manage the crew to ensure the project schedule and deliverables are completed, and all work activities are carried out in accordance with the Project Execution Plan
- Ensure Inspection Test Plans are followed and executed accordingly
- Procurement and coordination of sub-contractors and their crews and ensure their reporting and work
- Run daily site meetings, and complete required daily reporting
- Approve field tickets and invoices, timecards, POs as required
- Monitor tunneling progress in coordination with the Operators and the Surveyor to ensure machine stays within stipulated tolerances, and provide daily status reporting to management, assisted by the Project Engineer
- Ensure quality control measures are met on site and appropriate documentation is made
- Troubleshoot technical and mechanical failures of the machine, making recommendations in collaboration with TBM technicians, mechanics and electricians
- Inspect equipment, ensuring that repairs, service, and maintenance are completed when required
- Assess possible risks or challenges and create a plan for mitigating risks, in collaboration with the VP Technical, HSE Manager, and VP Operations
- Promote safe working conditions and support HSE manager with ensuring the HSE standards of the company and the client are followed by crews, and that all safety documentation is being completed
- Ensure compliance with all project specific environmental constraints.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**
- The supervisor is responsible for the organization of his dedicated crew's daily tasks, ensuring safe work, and that timelines and project goals are achieved.
- They also may be required to coordinate the work of sub-contractors and their crews and ensure their reporting and work schedule is maintained.

**Technical Skills and Knowledge**
- Knowledge and understanding of the operation and repair of direct pipe, microtunnelling, equipment
- A demonstrated understanding of tunnelling procedures, using microtunnel boring machines
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and with skill
- Interpret and follow instructions from technical manuals and engineering diagrams
- Determine appropriate testing or troubleshooting procedures to find source of issue
- Knowledge and experience in working with hydraulic and electrical systems
- Ability to interpret and communicate the tasks on project execution plans to crews
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask and handle competing priorities
- Proven leadership within a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of the required safety precautions and hazards when working with equipment

**Qualifications**
- 5 + years relevant work experience with Micro-tunneling Machines
- 5 years in supervisory role in a tunneling operation.
