Situated within Humber College’s Inclusion and Belonging portfolio, the Office of Sustainability leads the college’s commitment to providing national leadership in developing sustainable campuses. As a hub for campus engagement and information, the sustainability team fosters a culture of sustainability through building operations and development, relating to the community and environment around us, and in embedding a sustainability mindset into teaching and learning.

**Job Details**:
**Position Title**: Sustainability Project & Research Assistant

**Status**:12-month Contract (May 2024 - April 2025) - Initiatives and Opportunities (I/O)

**Hours**:37.5 hrs / week

**Faculty/Department**: Office of Sustainability, Inclusion & Belonging

**Campus/Location**: Hybrid - North and Lakeshore Campuses in-person and work virtual from home (varies weekly)

**Salary**: Payband D - $25.86 - $29.96

**What you will do**:
The Sustainability Project and Research Assistant will assist with project and research initiatives and coordination for the Office of Sustainability. They are responsible for supporting the research, data collection and analysis that is required to create resources, information and reporting for the Sustainability Plan, Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (RPRA), Sustainability Tracking and Rating System (STARS), and Humber’s Annual Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory.

The incumbent will also: work with data and research tools (Excel, Power Point, ASANA, Power BI, Microsoft Office, etc.), support tracking metrics related to sustainability programs and initiatives, and provide office administrative support as required.

Specifically:

- Assist the Office of Sustainability with quantitative data collection, analysis, and reporting, including designing surveys, cleaning and analyzing data, and presenting results
- Conduct secondary research to determine best practices across institutions for sustainable alternatives to current Humber practices
- Assist development of projects, resources and information that support staff, students, and faculty at Humber College to make more sustainable choices.
- Proof-read reports and marketing material for clarity to ensure they meet our high quality communication standards
- Contribute to projects and programs that require continuous input from multiple stakeholders (e.g., Indigenous Education & Engagement, Black Academic Success and Engagement, LGBTQ+ Resource Center)
- Assist with other work as needed, including running the Office of Sustainability table at events occasionally
- Demonstrate a commitment to sustainability as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion

**What You Bring to the Role**:
**Education**:
A bachelor’s degree and/or Diploma in Project Management, Research, Sustainability, or related programs

**Experience**:

- Demonstrate advanced research, project coordination and management skills (e.g., defining project scope, coordinating meetings, reporting progress, etc.)
- Experience in research-related tasks (e.g., collecting, analyzing and reporting data, pivot tables and excel proficiency)
- Creative thinker that is sustainability minded, with an interest in social and environmental sustainability
- Takes initiative, excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Oral Communication - Speaks clearly and confidently in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; provides, accepts and learns from feedback; participates in meetings
- Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet audience needs; able to read and interpret written information
