**Schedule**:Full-time seasonal, 35 hours/week. Schedule is Wednesday to Sunday (Varying hours depending on programming schedule)

**Job location**:Working outside in parks in your region (3-4 days/week)

Working at a computer in your home workspace (1-2 days/week)

**Position description**

**What does a typical day look like?**

Your days will be split between working from home (1-2 days/week) and in Parks (3-4 days/week). When working from home, you’ll have team meetings, reflect on the previous weekend, plan for the coming week, prepare for programs, draft posters, and brush up on your local knowledge. When working in Parks, you’ll check in with your local park staff, you will run nature walks with families before collecting observations of nature with iNaturalist. You’ll finish the day running fun kids’ activities such as plant scavenger hunts and games about natural and cultural history, then pack up for the day. On 2-3 days per week, your schedule will be shifted so that you can run evening amphitheatre programs at your Park.

**Responsibilities**:

- Interact with visitors (95% of your time)
- Educate visitors on how to enjoy parks responsibly
- Do your own research to become an expert on cultural and natural history in your Parks
- Run activities and games for children and families in Parks
- Present daytime and evening family-friendly interpretive programs in parks
- Learn existing programs and develop new programs
- Promote iNaturalist to visitors
- Monitor and report daily interaction statistics
- Collect iNaturalist observations with a mobile device (5% of your time)
- Contribute to safe work environment

**Requirements**:

- A love of the environment and the outdoors
- Comfortable making presentations, talking to visitors, and leading tours
- Enjoy interacting with large crowds and having lots of conversations, sometimes back-to-back, throughout the day. Some BC Parks get very busy, and your team might have 100+ conversations with visitors in a day
- Experience working or volunteering with children
- Ability to work in a remote environment, while staying connected with your team online
- Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for accessing the parks
- Personal computer with video conferencing capabilities and strong internet connection
- Personal mobile phone
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (will be completed during the hiring process)

**Additional skills and experience**:

- Fluency in additional languages is an asset
- Standard first aid certification or higher is an asset
- Post-secondary study in environmental sciences or outdoor education is an asset

**Canada Summer Jobs Funding Eligibility**:
As a condition of pending Canada Summer Jobs program funding, to be eligible for funding you will need to be:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
