**The Opportunity**

As Program Staff you play an integral role in ensuring programming excellence through provision of a positive, inclusive, and meaningful Y experiences that enhances participant achievement of a healthy lifestyle and healthy communities.

Reporting to the Program Director of the Community YMCA, this role is responsible for assisting in ensuring quality, safe, enriching, and inclusive program delivery. In this position you would be assisting in delivering programing that helps youth explore new opportunities and refine skills as well as provides a safe space to socialize and build relationships.

Flexibility to work irregular hours are required, such as afterschool, evenings, weekends, holidays etc.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide introductions and information to program participants and parents/guardians on comprehensive programming options.
- Program Delivery: responsible for assisting in the delivery of hands-on program activity plans for school age youth (ages 5-17) to enhance/provide participants with a safe, inclusive, positive environment, program facilitation is in keeping with established outcomes/objectives, in addition to YMCA quality and child safeguarding standards, and provincial regulations, program set-up/take down, preparation of materials and procurement of supplies/equipment; program evaluation and measurements of success.
- Plan, organize, and lead engaging recreational and educational activities, including arts and crafts, sports, and special projects.
- Facilitate group games, physical activities, and team-building exercises that promote social and emotional development and adjust activities to accommodate varying age groups and skill levels.
- Promote positive behavior and social skills, encouraging respect and teamwork among children. Address behavioral issues as they arise, using positive reinforcement and conflict resolution techniques. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where children feel safe and valued.
- Supervise and mentor youth by leading by example and forming positive relationships with youth within the program.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Positive attitude, patience, and a passion for working with children.
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education or child development preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with parents, children, and staff.
- Self-motivated, with strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Bilingual in French, Arabic, etc. considered an asset
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Conditions of Employment
- Clear Child Abuse Register Check
- Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (must be dated less than 6 months from hire date)
- Completion of YMCA’s Child Safety & Protection Orientation within first week of employment
- Completion of YMCA Child Safeguarding Training within probationary period
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate if required for the role
