**Salary**: $3,396.18 to $4,325.77 bi-weekly ($88,640 to $112,902/year)

Utilizing your background as a regulated healthcare practitioner, you will play a key role in developing and implementing policies, enforcing current standards and researching innovative solutions to meet the future demands of EMS. Your strong clinical knowledge will be beneficial to your work in the development of clinical standards and policies. You will also provide vital information and recommendations to the Registrar regarding ambulance licensing and compliance, which has direct impact on patient and public safety.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure public safety and ensuring that minimum legislated standards are met.
- Perform and execute provincial ambulance operator licensing & compliance inspections and investigations.
- Provide knowledge and technical advice to the Minister, MLA's, AHS, EMS operators, professional colleges, unions.
- Review strategic, operational and/or business plans related to ambulance services and provide recommendations related to governance and oversight.
- Support legislation, policy and standards development to support the delivery of quality Emergency Health Services (EHS)
- Respond to public inquiries/complaints via telephone and written format

As an EHS Specialist, you will have significant direct and indirect impact related to recommendations for governance and policy decisions rendered by the EHS Unit of Alberta Health on all current and prospective ambulance operators via the licensing and compliance framework.

**Minimum Recruitment Standards**:
**University Degree** in a related field, plus** four (4) years** of recent related experience as a registered healthcare provider. Equivalences will be considered.
Valid AB Driver’s license (provincial travel is required).

**Preference** will be given to the following individuals:

- Registered paramedic with the Alberta College of Paramedics,
- 3-5 years of progressively more complex management and leadership responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of inspections, investigations, compliance and monitoring to legislation.
- Diverse clinical experience as a regulated healthcare provider.

The following experience is considered an **asset**:

- Knowledge of paramedic practice locally, nationally and internationally.
- Strong working knowledge of computers and information technology systems.
- Working knowledge of Alberta's legislation and policy related to health systems and EMS.

**Equivalencies** will be considered based on:

- Diploma related to the position assignment and six (6) years of related experience. Must be a regulated member of the appropriate college if required by the Health Professions Act
- Masters degree related to the position assignment and three (3) years of related experience. Must be a regulated member of the appropriate college if required by the Health Professions Act.

**Hours of Work**:

- 36.25 hours per week (full time)

**Position Location**:

- **Preferred location ATB Place North, Edmonton. Flexible to work in other locations in Alberta based on operational requirements.**
- This position requires working from the office with an option to qualify for a hybrid work arrangement (in accordance with GOA policy). This position also requires regular travel provincially.
