Sheridan is looking for outstanding individuals to join our faculty team in the Veterinary Technician program. This program offers students a comprehensive set of practical and critical skills as well as knowledge in many aspects of veterinary clinical practice. Sheridan seeks a part-time professor to teach the labs in the following course within the Veterinary Technician program:
**SCIE10199 Veterinary Lab Techniques 1**: Parasitology

Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.

What You’ll be Doing

Delivering course curriculum in classroom and/or online, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques;
Tutoring and academic counselling of students, while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within assigned courses;
Defining, evaluating, and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable;
Attending periodic faculty meetings.

Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) required. RVT/BSc Bachelor of Science (Animal Biology, Animal Physiology, Biological Science, or related field) preferred.

Practical experience and knowledge about pharmaceutical treatments for common parasitic infections in domestic animal species.

Experience in collection of samples and identification of common ecto and endo parasites in animals.

Ability to operate basic laboratory equipment (blood analysers, microscopes, centrifuges) while adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and employ aseptic techniques.

Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in industry. Formal studies in adult or higher education are considered an asset.

Proficiency in computer software packages such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students.

Commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment.

Network of contacts with other professionals in the veterinary industry.
