**Job Summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grant Writer to join our team. The
Grant Writer will be responsible for securing funds for indigenous initiatives, programs
and services through grants and funding opportunities. The writing will be completed by
researching available grants/funding, preparing grant/funding proposals, and submitting
excellent communication, research, and writing skills, as well as the ability to work
independently and as part of a team.

sourcing grants and funding options for potential services that meet the needs of the

**Responsibilities**
- Identify and research funding opportunities that align with the organization's
- goals and mission.
- Prepare and submit grant proposals, including conducting thorough needs
- assessments, program planning, and budgeting.
- Meet all deadlines and criteria for grant submissions, ensuring all necessary
- documents and information are provided.
- Work closely with program staff and other department managers to gather
- information, ensure program alignment, and obtain approval for grant proposals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with grant-makers and funders such as
- FINESK, NetP, FNHA, ISC or others.
- Maintain accurate records of all grants, including deadlines, submissions, and
- awards.
- Monitor and report on the progress of funded programs to ensure that

objectives are met, and grant requirements are fulfilled.
- Complete relative annual reporting forms for each program.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including funders, program staff,
- and other departments.
- Stay abreast of trends and changes in the grant-making industry, including

federal, provincial, and local government grants, corporate grants, and
foundation grants.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Essential Functions**:

- Researches and identifies new government, corporate, foundation and private
- funding prospects to match TFN priorities;

documents in response to solicitations consistent with all policies and
procedures of Governances and Policies, and the requirements and guidelines of
the funding agencies;
- Generates revenues for TFN programs through timely submission of well
- researched, well written and well-documented grant proposals;
- Maintains primary responsibility for grant schedules and tracking grants;
- Serves as a liaison to all funding agencies and organizations;
- Works with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write and submit letters
- of inquiry, concept papers and grant proposals;
- Coordinates and follows-up on the progress of submitted proposals;
- Coordinates with the Business Office to create expenditure and income budgets
- to accompany proposals;
- Develop and create a digital record in cooperation of the Finance polices for TFN

**Effectiveness;**
- Responsible for preparing and submitting the annual eligibility Waiver

Applications;
- Develops and maintains a master file on pending grants and contracts;
- Remains up-to-date on current issues relative to grant proposals;
- Meets regularly with department Manager and their staff to discuss current and
- new funding needs;
- Become cognizant of regulations & other matters of compliance with all grants

communiques from the department of Education as they relate to the grants;
- Become familiar with and adhere to policies and procedures of Tla-o-qui-aht First

Nation and the Province of British Columbia regarding grant management;
- Inform staff and answer questions regarding allowability of proposed

expenditures related to all specific grants;
- Inform supervisor and Tribal Administrator on the progress of all grants and

issues that may arise with each grant.
- Maintains confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business

regarding vulnerable sector, supervisors or other employees;
