**About the Role**

The District Heat Maintenance Technician will be a key member of the PEI Energy Systems team, responsible for ensuring that PEI Energy Systems hot water and steam distribution systems and customer energy transfer stations are constructed, operated and maintained in a safe, economical, reliable and environmentally sound manner in accordance with company policies and Provincial Regulations. We are seeking a hardworking individual who is passionate about decarbonization and has a desire to play an active role in the transition to clean energy.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- As a full member of our team you will support our colleagues in construction projects, operations and maintenance. You will have varied tasks that you will work on both independently and in a team.
- Technical support for current construction projects and planning for future projects including budgeting, purchasing, tracking costs, schedules, and contractor deliverables.
- Inspect, repair, modify, install and maintain equipment including electronic instrumentation, controls and related mechanical equipment in customer buildings.
- Inspect, repair, modify, install and maintain equipment including hot water distribution pipe network, leak detection systems and pipeline repairs.
- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections for customers and distribution pipe.
- Review and maintain inventories for district heat hot water lines and substations.

**Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience**
- Minimum Grade 12, GED Certificate or approved equivalent
- Completion of 2nd year post-secondary education with Electro Mechanical, Construction Technology, HVAC / Refrigeration, Engineering Technology or other approved Journeyman trade.
- Previous maintenance experience is required.
- Excellent computer skills with experience in a Microsoft product environment and computerized maintenance management systems.
- A strong belief in customer service and commitment to safety
- PLC & Modbus experience is an asset
- Effective communication skills in the English language
- Demonstrated knowledge of energy production, heat transfer and distribution concepts
- Ability to self motivate and work with minimum supervision
- Ability to read engineering construction drawings, repair manuals, etc.
- Valid PEI Class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment which requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability.

**Physical** **Requirements**:
Regularly required physical requirements as appropriate to perform duties & responsibilities:

- The majority of the work is performed either in the field at customer energy transfer stations, the distribution system or in an administration office environment.
- Occasionally requires lifting, climbing stairs, working in an operating plant environment or at a construction site where heat, noise, dust and large machinery are present.
- Ability to lift, bend, kneel, reach or work in a physical environment.
- Ability to use common hand tools and some specialty equipment.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
- Some travel within Charlottetown is required.
