**Who can apply**: Students enrolled in an Electric Engineering or Hydrogen Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) at one of the following universities: UQTR, Laval, McGill, Polytechnique Montréal or Concordia.

**Duties**:
In the quest for sustainable energy solutions, Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysis emerged as a clean and a well-advanced technology capable of producing low-carbon hydrogen, offering a promising pathway towards net-zero emissions goals. In the Canadian landscape, PEM electrolysis has not just offered a solution; it becomes a cornerstone in the development of clean technologies, nurturing the growth of the hydrogen ecosystem. The state-of-the-art of commercial PEM systems is witnessing the remarkable range of megawatt (MW) systems available commercially. Integrating PEM electrolysis system with gasification of biomass to produce sustainable aviation fuels and/or renewable diesel offers an opportunity to boost the economy of scale of clean fuels.

**Intent of the process**:
This is a Ph.D. student position of 20 hours per week, for a eight (08) month-period, from Summer 2024 to Winter 2024-2025.
The work will be in hybrid mode i.e., partly on-site at the Varennes (QC) Research Centre and partly teleworking.

- Master of Science (MSc) or Master of Engineering (MEng), preferably in electric engineering or other speciality relevant to the duties of the position.
- Confirmed enrollment in a Electric Engineering or Hydrogen Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program at a Canadian University since at least 1 year on February 1st, 2024.
- Ph.D. thesis topic related to the Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysis.
Degree equivalency
**Experience**:
- Experience in process modelling of electrolysis systems and the utilization of I-BIOREF decision support tool.
- Experience in techno-economic analysis.
Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to work harmoniously in a multidisciplinary team.
