**Purpose**
Provide analytical support to the International Treasury team to contribute in generating insights, proposing strategies and facilitating effective governance in key topics such as (but not limited to) Structural Interest Rate Risk management, Liquidity Risk management, Fixed Income Investments and Corporate FX Hedging.
**Accountabilities**
1. Work on development and implementation of balance sheet analytics related to:
- Managing balance sheet exposure by proposing appropriate utilization of market instruments such as interest rate and FX swaps and FX forwards
- Monitoring and strategizing investment portfolio, consisting of fixed income instruments
- Scenario analysis by incorporating tools such as interest rate expectations, parameterizing non-maturity deposits, calibrating mortgage prepayment rate, and modelling term deposits with early redemptions
2. Develop tools and work on analysis related to:
- Interest Rate Risk i.e. simulation of balance sheet and quantifying metrics such as Annual Income and Economic Value under different scenarios
- Liquidity risk and metrics such as Liquidity Coverage Ratio and Net Stable Funding Ratio;
- Management reporting: Develop, implement and produce periodic / ad-hoc reports
3. Ensure alignment of ALM methodology, measurement and policies for International Banking withing the bank
- Work closely and coordinate on topics such as balance sheet management, risk limits, key exposures, regulatory initiatives etc.
- Participate and work on regulatory initiatives such as IRRBB and FRTB while working with GRM and Treasury
- Review ALM related policies for different countries and update the International Treasury guidelines
- Participate in certain country-level Asset Liability Committees
4. Actively work and contribute to analyzing Fund Transfer Pricing (FTP) methodologies, as well as product spread analysis and capital flows within the bank, P&L analysis for business lines
5. Maintain active relationships with internal stakeholders such as local Treasury teams and the relevant support functions
**Skills, Experiences and Functional Competencies**
- Must be able to articulate and defend ideas and balance sheet proposals through both written and verbal communication
- Knowledge of Financial Products in both banking and trading books, including deposits, loans, money markets and derivatives;
- Proficiency with use of Python, SQL, Excel, VBA and Bloomberg;
- Familiarity with the relevant regulations i.e. IRRBB, LCR, FRTB, Volcker;
- Previous market related experiences (such as front-office roles) is strongly desired
- Self-driven, analytical and collaborative in a team based environment
- Ability to speak Spanish is an asset
- Understanding of the Scotiabank operations and Finance systems (OBI) is an asset
- Previous experience with SQL based database design and fundamentals is an asset
**Education and Other Requirements**
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Finance or Accounting;
- CFA / FRM designations or working towards one is strongly desire
