CAP holds meetings with members of the government to find practical ways to improve federal programs, policies and services for off-reserve Indigenous Peoples.

**Summary**

Reporting to the Director of Research, the Research Analyst will provide in-depth analysis and recommendations for response to current and emerging policy issues that are priorities for our constituency. The areas will include conducting research and analysis in priority areas, consulting with communities, government officials, and technical experts, and the development of options on a wide range of policy projects.

**What You’ll Do**
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative/statistical research analyses in various CAP research priority areas such as housing, health, education, employment, family, children and youth, women, social and economic development, justice, rights, language/ culture, environment, the Indian Act and international issues
- Preparing and coordinating briefing material, reports, correspondence, presentations, and policy statements on current issues as well as federal policy and legislation
- Preparing written and verbal briefings to the CAP Executive Board and Senior Management team
- Building networks with federal and provincial government, as well as other Indigenous organizations and community stakeholders on policy issues
- Representing CAP at meetings, conferences and events and providing presentations on CAP policy when required
- Developing and implementing data and research strategies, work plans, identifying and defining key initiatives and outcomes that align with CAP priorities
- Contribute to the preparation of proposals for funding and provide assistance in the management of policy initiatives/programs and budgets

**You’ll Need To Have**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in social/health sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience; a Master’s degree in relevant field is an asset.
- Three to five years’ experience in the Indigenous policy or socio-economic research field and demonstrated work history related to Indigenous organizations.
- Must have an understanding of policy research issues for off-reserve Indigenous Peoples living in urban, rural, remote and isolated areas throughout Canada.
- Expertise in quantitative and statistical analyses and interpretation of data, good command of utilizing statistical software packages such as SPSS/STATA, as well as conducting literature reviews and environmental scans.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills in English. French is an asset.
- Advanced writing skills including proposal writing ability, public speaking and presentation skills, active listening skills.
- Good time management skills, along with the ability to prioritize daily tasks.
- Strong organizational skills, and effective decision-making abilities.

**Our Working Conditions**
- Hybrid work will be performed from the CAP National Office
- Remote working arrangements are permitted for employees residing outside of the Ottawa region.
- Occasional weekend and evening work
- Salary commensurate with experience
