**Job description**
**Position Overview**
This position strives to support daily and ongoing financial and accounting operations of multiple organizations through Intertidal. This role requires attention to detail, thorough financial analysis and reporting that will contribute to mandatory internal and external reporting.

**Regular Operations**
- Maintain accurate accounts payable, receivable, payroll, daily financial entries and reconciliations
- Develop systems to account for financial transactions
- Assist with basic Human Resources duties such as: new hire documents, employment law compliances, EI and WCB claims
- Onboarding and updating employee accounts
- Administration of petty cash
- Support and maintain external invoicing and payments

**Payroll**
- Administrating approved expenses and mileage
- Support in any other payroll duties
- Manage employee benefit accounts

**Accounting Duties**
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Escalate all outstanding Account Receivable matters to the Manager of Financial Services
- Assist Manager of Financial Services and external Accountant with the preparation of monthly and yearly end reconciliations and reporting
- Assist with other accounting projects

**Financial Duties**
- Update financial data across databases to ensure accurate record
- keeping and availability

**Departmental Reporting**
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly accounting and financial reports

**System Development and Review**
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures

**Collaborate Expectations**
- Work alongside the Manager of Financial Services to ensure financial and accounting compliance according to Intertidal Policies and Procedures as well as GAAP Principles
- Recuperate any outstanding balances owed to the Agency alongside the Manager or Individual Services and Manager of Financial Services, as appropriate

**Related Duties**
- Participation in organization wide events and celebrations
- Work alongside the Manager of Individual Services to provide Individual programming related to budgeting, taxes, and administrations of personal funds.

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team of multi-disciplinary paraprofessionals
- Great attention to detail, analytical insight and highly organized
- Flexible hours in the morning, evening and weekend hours
- Ability to work in differing work environments - traditional office setting or digital, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication, facilitation and conflict mediation skills
- Experience working with or knowledge of, Indigenous communities and cultures as well as Black and other individuals of colour is considered an asset
- Knowledge, passion/interest and or experience working with Individuals (children, youth and adolescents) with complex needs, mental health challenges and diagnosis and vulnerable and diverse populations of all ages
- Strong experience working with an anti-racist anti-oppression lens and systems thinking that consistently prioritizes accessibility and safety of all persons

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Certification in Bookkeeping from an accredited educational institution and or a B.Sc/B.A in Accounting, Finance or relevant field from an accredited educational institution is ideal
- Comfort working with MAC or PC, use of digital video conferencing is required experience with other digital software is ideal
- Past work experience as a Bookkeeper, similar role, and or Junior Accountant
- Extensive understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
- Advanced proficiency working with Microsoft Office—especially Excel

Pay: $38,400.00-$48,000.00 per year
