**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, IT Applications, the **Power BI Specialist** will be responsible for transforming raw data into insightful visual representations that drive informed decision-making within the organization. This professional is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports to provide actionable insights and facilitate data-driven strategies.

**Your Day to Day**:

- Data Visualization Development:_
- Collaborate with various departments to understand data requirements.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that effectively communicate data insights to stakeholders, including executives, department leaders, and front-line staff.
- Create interactive and user-friendly data visualizations, including charts, graphs, maps, and custom visuals.
- Data Modeling and Transformation:_
- Transform and clean data using Power Query in Power BI to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Build data models that support efficient report creation and analysis.
- Define data relationships, hierarchies, and calculations to support complex reporting needs.
- Data Integration:_
- Integrate data from multiple sources into Power BI, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Automate data refresh schedules to keep reports up to date.
- Performance Optimization:_
- Monitor and optimize the performance of Power BI reports to ensure fast and responsive user experiences.
- Identify and address any data processing bottlenecks or issues.
- User Training and Support:_
- Provide training and support to end-users to enable them to navigate and interact with Power BI reports effectively.
- Address user inquiries and troubleshoot any issues related to data visualization.
- Manage active users on Power BI to ensure appropriate level of access is granted and maintained.
- Security and Compliance:_
- Implement data security measures within Power BI to protect sensitive information.
- Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy regulations.
- Collaboration:_
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and business stakeholders, to align data visualization efforts with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with teams within IT to ensure Power BI integrates seamlessly with other systems and tools.

**What You Bring to the Team**:

- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Business.
- 5 years of proven experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
- Strong data visualization skills and an understanding of data storytelling.
- Proficiency in SQL for data retrieval and transformation.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with data integration and data pipeline tools.

**Work Location**:
This is a hybrid position with the requirement to work from our downtown Toronto office for a minimum of two days per week (currently Tuesday and Thursday).
