Overall Responsibilities:
The key role of the Quality Assurance Technician (Laboratory) is to ensure Capsule Factory products are developed, received, and tested in compliance with Natural Health Products (NNHPD) regulations following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). This position is laboratory based with various plant floor tasks. The main duties will be assisting in product development, sample collection, in-house testing, and 3rd party lab testing arrangements.
Qualifications/ Behavioral Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree or college diploma in chemistry, biology, or related scientific discipline.
- 1-2 years of industry/lab experience is preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of GMP and regulatory requirements for Natural Health Products and food.
- Good understanding of data analysis and report preparation with solid knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Leadership - must demonstrate the ability to lead and influence others in the value of continuous improvement
- Critical Thinker - must be able to tactfully challenge the status quo and stimulate change initiatives

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Sample collection, submission, and testing as per specifications (In-house or 3rd Party)
- Conduct in-house testing: Solaris Microbiology tests, NIR, Disintegration, Weight Variation, Organoleptic tests, etc.
- Issuance of Finished Product Certificate of Analysis.

Document Non-conformance and OOS (Out of Specification) investigations in a timely manner.
- Assist with the Lab material’s inventory tracking and maintenance.
- Perform document verification/review.
- Review and approval of testing results as per MMR and regulatory requirements.
- Main role in the released of finished goods.
- Maintain testing equipment, including calibration, cleanliness, and associated documentation.
- Collect and compile data; perform analysis and illustrate trends.
- Ensure the compliance of the sampling both with Organic, Kosher, Informed Sport, NSF or other 3rd Party audit requirements.
- Promptly communicate any issues that may affect the product safety and quality of the Finished Goods being produced throughout the shift to the QA Manager/Designate
- Adhere to Good Documentation Practices and record keeping.
- Attend training: SOPs, GMP, health and safety measures, seminars and video training when required.
- Attend meetings and reviews as required.
- Maintain general cleanness of workplace.

Other duties:

- Assist in all areas of the quality program as required including record keeping, internal auditing, SOP writing, non-conformance investigations, training etc.
- In-Process and Receiving QA Technician back-up (when required).
- Assist with other administrative duties (e.g., uploading documents) when needed.
- Other duties as per Operational Requirements.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

- Clinical laboratory: 2 years (required)
