Dow Chemical Canada in Fort Saskatchewan, AB, is seeking qualified individuals for the EH&S Summer Practicum Student position
About you and this role - What you will do in this role
- Assist in achieving facility EH&S goals.
- Ensure that the EH&S aspects of facility operating discipline and management systems are adequate and applied to achieve performance goals.
- Implement detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
- Actively coach teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities or EH&S issues that arise during the execution of tasks.
- Perform / coordinate certain environmental, IH and reactive chemical monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the facility.
- Coordinate the schedules for assessments and audits in EH&S related areas
- As required conduct and document investigations of incidents and ensure follow up actions to prevent re-occurrences are addressed.
Qualifications - Required education, experience and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves)
- Currently enrolled or have completed Occupational Health and Safety Diploma Program.
- Reliable attendance is an expectation of every Dow employee; therefore, the student must be able to supply their own reliable transportation.
- Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.
- A class 5 driver's license.
- A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada on a permanent basis.
The physical abilities, with or without reasonable accommodations, include:
- Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
- Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
- Work in tight and closed in spaces.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to respirator and face coverings.
