Mentor Coordinator

We are hiring a **Mentoring Coordinator**to oversee the various mentoring programs offered by our agency. This is a part-time position (10-20 hours per week) on a one-year contract.
The Mentoring Coordinatorwill report directly to the Executive Director. This individual will be responsible for screening and matching adult volunteer mentors with children and youth, as well as monitoring those matches to ensure the healthy development of relationships. This responsibility encompasses all programs that Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Shore delivers within the South Shore area, including traditional matches, in-school mentoring, Kids n’ Kops, etc.
**Responsibilities**:
- manage intake of children and volunteers including screening and interviewing, as well as waitlist monitoring;
- conduct reference checks of potential volunteers;
- conduct the Child Safety program with volunteers, children and parents;
- maintain case notes on all cases in accordance with National Standards;
- provide regular reports to Executive Director, or special reports as requested;
- maintain strict confidentiality as outlined in Privacy and Confidentiality Policy;
- perform administrative functions as required to manage caseload;
- make referrals to other agencies or resources as warranted;
- liaise with schools, other youth service agencies, other community groups, clubs or the public in general as required;
- organize and deliver group activities;
- and other duties as determined by Executive Director
**Qualifications**:
- Relevant experience working with children and youth
- Ability to work independently and without supervision, as well as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills; must be able to work cooperatively with families, volunteers, and partners, including schools, police, and other non-profit groups and organizations
- Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
- Sound computer skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability and resourcefulness
- Ability to travel regularly throughout Lunenburg and Queens Counties, with clean driver’s record and own vehicle or reliable access to vehicle with insurance
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as required
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 15 per week
