Under supervision of the Deputy City Auditor and/or Senior Auditor, the Auditor participates as a team member on assurance and compliance audits, investigations and advisory projects and leads small to medium projects of a similar nature. The Auditor contributes to development, implementation and achievement of the Audit Department's plans, vision, mission, goals and objectives as well as continuous improvement of Audit services and performance.
**As the **_Auditor, _**you will**:
- Assist/participate as a team member on medium to large assurance and compliance audits, advisory projects, and other services (such as fraud investigations).
- Conduct small to medium sized assurance/compliance audits, fraud and waste investigations, and advisory projects.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and achievement of the Audit Department's plans, goals and objectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of Audit Department’s services and performance.
**Your education and qualifications include**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce or Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (i.e. Economics, Political Science). An equivalent combination of education training and experience may be considered.
- Any one of the following would be preferred: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
- A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered an asset.
- Two years of experience with auditing, organizational reviews and program evaluation preferably in a public sector or large corporate setting.
- Experience planning, organizing and completing projects.
- Experience using Microsoft Office including Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Knowledge of current local government issues.
- Knowledge of accounting concepts.
- Knowledge of applicable audit and assurance standards (i.e. government audit standards).
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with ability to effectively respond to questions and present information to clients, residents and managers.
- Strong written communication skills including technical and business writing skills in order to articulate ideas in a clear and effective manner.
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective professional and working relationships with a wide variety of people at all levels and function effectively as a team member.
- Organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and competing demands to deliver quality results.
- Excellent problem solving skills to independently analyze complex issues and present solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with stakeholders as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
- Ability to identify and analyze complex issues, interpret client needs and develop practical solutions.
- Ability to handle confidential and politically sensitive issues with tact, diplomacy and integrity.
