**Job Description**:
As we are a small team and this is a Farm to table brewery, the Assistant Brewer must be able to jump into any role in the brewery as needed and therefore is an integral member of The Patch Brewery. Reporting to the Head Brewer, the Assistant Brewer will have many duties, including: cellaring and packaging of beer, along with responsibilities relating to cleaning, packaging, inventory, warehouse, brewery operations in general, and yes, brewing. You’ll be working with a team of awesome people around you who will encourage, train and lift you up.

**Responsibilities**:
Cleaning:

- Following SOP’s for cleaning before, during and after tasks
- The cleaning of tanks inside and outside, including Oak Foeders and Barrels
- Cleaning the floors
- Various brewery cleaning and organizing

Packaging:

- Work closely with the small production team on the operation and maintenance of our canning line and other production equipment
- Assist in the cleaning and filling of kegs
- Identify and rectify areas for cost reduction in both the brewing and production processes

Inventory/Warehouse:

- Ensuring all items are consistently and accurately counted, including grain, hops, packaging supplies and final products
- Ensuring inventory is stored in an organized manner
- Forklift operations, and Material handling: receiving, warehousing, weighing and processing of grain, wort & green beer transfer, brite beer packaging and warehousing of finished product and associated packaging materials

Brewing/Cellaring:

- Able to follow and execute the brewing production process recipes from start to finish
- Record keeping of all every aspect of brewing
- Problem solving any number of issues as they arise, based on the information provided by the head brewer
- Ability to learn brewing software and other software used in the brewing process
- Assists in the brewing, transfers, packaging, and help in the scheduling of these activities
- Assists in the sanitary sampling, yeast cell counts, daily gravities
- Maintaining accurate and complete record keeping of all areas of all products produced
- Continually look to improve the brewing and production process to ensure quality is maintained

Tap Room:

- Assists in maintenance and cleaning of tap lines
- Assists in aiding our Front End staff in dealing with troubleshooting pouring issues

Admin:

- Participating in production meetings
- Working closely with the Tap Room on beer education sessions as required
- Supporting on and offsite company events
- Other duties as required, such as wearing 15-37 pieces of flare

Qualifications:

- Formal brewing education (diploma in brewing KPU, or equivalent experience)
- Understanding of chemistry, microbiology, fluid dynamics, maths, and a host of other general things pertaining to brewing
- Previous experience in brewing operations
- A problem solving attitude.
- Homebrewing says a lot about you. It’s a big asset. If you don’t, consider supporting your local homebrewing supply store and start
- Serving It Right
- Cicerone or BJCP certification is not required, but OMG look into it, that knowledge is hugely beneficial
- Passionate about making beer
- Physical Requirements: Concrete floors and standing for long periods of time; frequently lifting 25 kg grain bags, 50L full kegs, carrying, pushing, lifting, bending and pulling weights
- Working on ladders and at heights up to 4 meters.

Pay

$18.75 - $25 per hour based on experience

Pay: $18.75-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
