**Building Inspector**:
**Permanent Full Time**

**Position Overview**
Reporting to the Senior Building Inspector, the Building Inspector con
- tributes to the effective operation of the Development Services Depart

**Qualifications**
- Possession of an interprovincial trades qualification in carpentry or plumbing, or a 2 year Diploma from a recognized technical institute in building technology, level II building certification with the Building Officials’ Association of BC, and a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
- Level I plumbing certification with a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in Local Government building department performing building/plumbing inspections;
- Member in good standing with the Building Officials’ Association of BC and the Plumbing Officials’ Association of BC;
- A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the BC Building Code with the ability to check plans and specifications and inspect ongoing construction under Part 9 of the BC Building Code;
- Considerable knowledge of the Plumbing Code and Fire Code; and provincial and municipal statutes, regulations and bylaws;
- A demonstrated understanding of the statutory duties of the Building Inspector under the Community Charter;
- Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License; a satisfactory current driver’s profile will be required.

- Hours of work: Monday - Friday - 40 hours/week $40.89/hour ($38.39 per hour (2023 Rate) plus $2.50 per hour re: LOU)
