**Recreational Program Assistant**

**Contract - Canada Summer Job**

**This positions reports to**: Program Manager (Active Daily Living)

- Previous administrative and event planning
- Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma in related field of Recreation and Leisure Studies, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services or Activation.
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act* and;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating program activities including culturally appropriate programs
- Assist clients in activities of daily living such as medication reminder, toileting, transferring or eating
- Prepare, set-up and clean-up the program, equipment and supplies
- Facilitate recreation, social and exercise programs and supports other staff, students and volunteers who assist with these programs
- Maintain accurate client records and statistics
- Maintains knowledge, observes, and practices appropriate procedures in regards to Fire, Safety, Quality and environmental standards
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Provide support and accompaniment to clients to or from program on agency vehicles
- Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as outlined in the Personnel Manual.

**KEY ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide services in keeping with the organization’s _Mission, Vision and Beliefs_ and _Client Declaration of Values_.
- Adhere to the principles and expectations outlined in the _Code of Conduct._
- Maintain compliance with the policies and procedures of the organization.
- Adhere to the _Personal Health Information Protection Act (_PHIPA 2010) as outlined in the organization privacy policies and procedures.
- Perform the functions of job description in compliance with the Health and Safety practices of the organization and in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Participate in the continuous quality improvement activities of the organization in order to advance a culture of quality and support ongoing compliance with CARF Accreditation standards.

**Note**:This position is funded for 35 hours in total. Hours of work and duration of position will be determined based on the needs of the department

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks
