**DESCRIPTION**

The Head of Business Area, IMA (Automation) is responsible for the activities and performance of the IMA business areas in the Canadian market. This includes the management of all direct automation resources in product marketing and business development active in the market. The Head of Business Area IMA is responsible to collaborate with the Head of National Sales for the purpose of target setting and the establishment of a collaborative selling model (team selling) with the Regional Sales teams to ensure the optimum sales of automation products and solutions.

Additionally, the Head of Business Area IMA has the responsibility to lead effective Application Engineering and Technical Support for all Phoenix Contact products in Canada.

Finally, the Head of Business Area IMA will also lead the Phoenix Contact Vertical Market Management activities mainly focussing on Process Industries and Energy, thereby developing strategic End User initiatives for growth across all Business Areas operating in Canada.

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES**
- In cooperation with IMA HQ, be responsible for planning, aligning, and executing the Business Plan for IMA in Canada.
- Working with the automation / IMA team, National Sales team and other key stakeholders in Phoenix Contact Canada be responsible for the achievement of targets for the IMA business including Sales, Margins, Headcount, Costs and EBIT.
- Collaborate with the National Sales teams under the National Sales Manager to ensure that both teams are providing an effective sales and business development structure for the automation business (team-selling for example).
- Lead the Vertical Market Management initiative in Canada including the leadership of the individual Vertical Market Managers. Guide and direct the activities to develop Phoenix Contact’s presence and effectiveness in the selected Markets.
- Manage and coach a Technical Support team to provide first-class product support for all customers and partners across all Phoenix Contact products.
- Maintain senior level customer contacts and relationships with key automation customers and partners to promote the company and to get feedback on our performance. Do this in conjunction with National Sales Manager and other Heads of Business Areas.
- Take part in the Executive Management group of Phoenix Contact and contribute to the overall management and long-term development of the company in Canada.
- Be active in industry related associations that support the growth of the IMA product portfolio.

**QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS**
- University degree and/or College Technician/Technologist diploma.
- 10-15 years business leadership experience in an electrical, automation or similar technical company with leading and innovative products.
- Excellent understanding of the sales cycle and selling techniques.
- Experienced coaching skills and leadership of a professional organisation.

**ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS**
- Attendance in accordance with company policies and participation in local, regional, and (inter)national meetings
- Must be able to travel overnight as required
- Must have a valid driver’s license
