Located in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, SMH is a 600+ bed community and academic hospital, serving a population of over 500,000 as a tertiary referral center.**Division Highlights**:

- The Respirology division comprises eight full-time members and several part-time members.
- Outpatient services include private clinics and hospital-affiliated subspecialty clinics for airways disease, rapid access, and interstitial lung disease (ILD).
- Facilities include a full pulmonary function lab, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, bronchoscopy, EBUS, and indwelling pleural catheter insertion, with ambulatory daycare support.
- Direct access is available to the Fraser Health Authority (FHA) sleep lab and regional thoracic surgery services.
- SMH is affiliated with the Fraser Valley Cancer Center.
- Inpatient services provide consultative respiratory care without Most Responsible Physician (MRP) duties.

**Academic Affiliation**:
SMH partners with the University of British Columbia's medical school and postgraduate training programs. Additionally, planning for a new medical school within the FHA is underway.-
- Fellowship in Respirology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Eligibility for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
- Canadian citizenship.

- Subspecialty training in Respirology following fellowship completion.
